We have accumulated more than 200 cooking and recipe books. (and that’s after getting rid of about half before we moved to NM) What we have found is that many recipes are basically the same from book to book (or site to site) with a minor adjustment or two. That gives the author the ability to call the recipe his or he own. They then can publish books and recipes to make money. While I would say this comes close to plagiarism, so be it.
When Patty wants a recipe for a given meal or dish, she will often have 3-4 cookbooks out and open. I often tease her and say, “it takes her 3 cookbooks to boil water”. Thus, the conundrum of publishing recipes on our blogs.
To address this, we have approached a couple of directions.
- 1) We have asked you, our readers, and followers, to submit any recipe that is yours or a family favorite, potluck repeat, etc.
- 2) We will give you credit for your submission, or any credit where credit is due.
- 3) We will take recipes that we think you will enjoy from publications (i.e.: Tast of Home, Cook’s Illustrated, Pillsbury, etc.) and will also give them credit.
Those of you that know Kitchen Tips, know that we are a value-added affiliate marketer. The reason for adding the tools, equipment, dishes, etc. to the bottom of the recipe is for your knowledge, and hopefully, if you want or need something, you’ll be inclined to follow the link and make the purchase. We call that a value-added win-win for all.
We hope you will feel free to submit recipes and share any family traditions and/or memories associated with them. We look forward to hearing from you as always.

PS. We have only published a few recipes at this point but would like to put out many more. I am currently working on a recipe from my Grandmother from Germany she called “Dinna Couga”. So far, the cake part is way too dry. Grandma measured everything in her hands, my hands aren’t as large as hers so I am facing slight challenges, but I will persist
