Kitchen Tips vs Inflation, Gas & Border Security

When Patty & I started KITCHEN TIPS a year ago, we never thought that Covid, Inflation, Gasoline prices  & Border Security  would play such a large part. The above-mentioned challenges have played, and looks like will continue to play, right into the hands of KITCHEN TIPS.

I learned some 30+ years ago in American Legion Leadership training there are two things you should avoid talking about. Religion and Politics. I’m not going to talk about Religion but I’m going to come close on politics. I take no side or offer no conclusions but as Sgt. Friday said “Just the facts, man, just the facts”

Inflation is at a 40-year high. In a comparison between April 2021 and April 222, Ground Beef is up 14.8%, Bacon is up 17.7%, Eggs are up 22.6%, Butter is up 16.0%, Milk is up 14.7%, Pork is up 13.7%, Apples are up 6.6% Fish is up 11.9% and my social security is up 00.0% These numbers are staggering and may worsen. These numbers are from the Bureau of Labor Statics. When you then add in fuel which is up a whopping amount Nationwide, we feel the bind. Remember when gas was $1.85? It is now up 48% over the last 12 months ending March 2022.

We can talk about Covid and the border crisis in somewhat the same breath. The border is wide open, and folks are flooding into our Country. Yes, I know we are Country of immigrants, but never before have so many people flooded our Southern border. Think about the exposure to Covid as most of these people are untested as they enter our Country. Now add the drugs. It has been calculated that the drugs entering our Country illegally at the border are totally out of control.

What can we do? Educate ourselves and VOTE!!

BBQ season is coming, and we have yet to use our BBQ. The wind has been horrific, rain has been nil and the entire State has been under a red flag warning for months.

Have you heard or read about the baby formula shortage? Apparently, the government has shut down one of the largest makers of baby formula and there are shortages nationwide. Our FDA rules & laws don’t permit us to import baby formula but I just read this morning that our Government has shipped pallet, after pallet of baby formula to the illegal alien babies housed at the border. My question is, why are we providing our baby formula to these babies when there is an abundance of baby formula across the border in Mexico? Go Figure. (I am just thankful formula for 70-year old’s comes in 30 packs.)
