Howdy Kitchen Tips Followers & newbies,
Belated Happy Father’s Day to all of you fathers out there.
This was probably the first father’s day in 20 years that we didn’t BBQ. Half the State has burned or is still on fire and even though our BBQ is on the deck some 20 ft from the edge, we just didn’t fell right about cooking outside. So our father’s day meal became my favorite Mexican, Chili Verde, instead of Steak. It was great.
We finally got a little rain over night and our uncovered porch and steps were all speckled with ash from the fires.
BBQ GRILLS & SMOKERS
I have been going to look at BBQ’s but find myself in a quandary with all that has come on the market. The latest rage seems to be pellet grills and smokers and even combo grills and smokers as well as electric grills. Our website has no less than 10 places to look at and reference barbeques. Here’s a link to our vendors page and you can check out all the BBQ’s and smokers. Kitchen Tips / Vendors
Let me take just a moment and tell you why we still have a propane powered grill and how we use it. We have a 6-burner grill. The far-right burner is the infra-red, super-hot, super-fast burner. Then we have (had) 5 regular burners. We took out the grate (1 of 4) in the far left side, went to Dick’s Sporting Goods and bought a Lodge reversible grill/griddle plate to replace that grate. NOTE: If you like this idea and you are looking at BBQ’s, you’ll want to know the size of the grate you will be removing to get the right size griddle!!
The reason we did this is so we could cook butterflied shrimp, asparagus, or other veggies to go with our steaks, ribs, chicken, or burgers.
