Our website is centered around something we all want and need – FOOD!
Regardless of how or where you initially obtain your food, our mission is to take you from farm, ranch, ocean, lake, river, your own garden, or a commercial marketplace, to the dining table.
Our goal is to share money-saving tips while keeping you safe. We will do so by sharing tips on how to buy, how to store, and how to prepare the foods we like to consume.
Let’s start with a little history and how Covid has changed most of our lives. Covid affected all of us in different ways. Each Town, County, State, and Our Nation has been affected. Without going into detail about how it affected each of us, let’s talk about what we have learned and how we can go forward.
With the advent of Covid, we decided to go to the metro market no more than once a month. Any other items we may have missed we fill in at the local market, usually once every 2 weeks. This has kept our exposure to other people and the risk of getting Covid at a minimum.
In our case, we live in a rural, remote setting and our nearest town (actually a village) is 20 miles away. The village has a small-town market. If we want to go to a metropolitan area we have to drive about 100 miles, or 2 hours, in each direction.
Online marketing has become a factor. What we learned was that online shopping has become a large part of our lives. It is quicker, easier, and safer than in-store shopping. We order canned goods, paper products, pet food, and more online. We learned that companies such as Amazon, Walmart, Sam’s Club, and many more have excellent online shopping programs. Ordering online, the product is delivered directly to your doorstep. Prices are fair and shipping is figured by how much you purchase or annual upgrades to “free shipping” programs. We learned to buy many non-perishable products online.
